Safety Officer at West Kenya Sugar Limited

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and manage comprehensive health and safety programs and policies at project sites
• Ensure the project meets all company, industry and regulatory guidelines, including maintaining required safety documentation and submitting reports
• Conduct safety briefings at the beginning of each workday to highlight potential hazards, discuss safety measures and reinforce adherence to safety protocols
• Work closely with project management teams, engineers and subcontractors to address safety concerns and develop site-specific safety plans and Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs)
• Regularly walk through construction sites to visually inspect ongoing work, identify potential safety risks and engage with workers to address concerns
• Conduct regular inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations and project-specific safety plans
• Serve as the primary contact for incident and injury notification, leading investigations of accidents to determine root causes and prevent future occurrences
• Develop and deliver site orientation, safety meetings and other training programs for all site personnel, including subcontractors
• Organize and maintain all necessary project safety documentation and records
• Develop and implement emergency preparedness and response plans, such as traffic control plans
