Retail Operations Manager -Nairobi

About the Role

A leading supermarket chain is seeking an experienced Retail Operations Manager to oversee all store operations and ensure seamless retail performance. The successful candidate will report directly to the General Manager and will be responsible for driving sales, managing teams, and maintaining operational excellence.

Core Responsibilities

• Formulate and implement store strategies to achieve sales and operational goals
• Lead the retail team, manage grievances, leave management, and provide guidance and support
• Supervise inventory turnover, maintain FIFO procedures, and proactively manage stock replenishment
• Identify outdated or slow-moving products and recommend corrective measures
• Source quality products while ensuring ethical procurement and transparency
• Ensure the safety and security of stores and goods
• Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual stocktaking exercises
• Address queries on inventory variances and maintain comprehensive records
• Analyze category and brand performance on a weekly and monthly basis
• Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and best practices in retail operations
• Manage budgets, resources, and vendors to ensure efficient use of resources
• Enhance brand visibility and awareness campaigns to achieve store objectives
• Analyze consumer behavior and understand customer preferences
• Receive goods, stack them according to store layout, and update inventory systems with all stock movements
• Ensure compliance with regulations, store policies, and ensure all appropriate licenses are current

Qualifications and Requirements

• Degree in Business Administration or related field
• At least 3 years' experience in Retail Management
• Experience working in a supermarket environment (preferred)
• Demonstrated expertise in procurement
