Research Assistant- Tana River

About the Role

The Research Assistant will collect data at the household level under the supervision of MOH/AIHD supervisors. This position is essential to ensuring high-quality data collection for our research initiatives in the Tana River region.

Key Responsibilities

• Attend the 2-day training on the data collection tool
• Conduct field data collection and management activities, including obtaining consent and ensuring confidentiality
• Participate in daily debrief meetings
• Submit quality data to the ona.io server
• Secure storage of all collected data according to outlined procedures
• Meet deadlines by completing assigned interviews in a timely manner
• Familiarize yourself with research ethics principles and protocols
• Report to your immediate supervisor as required and communicate any challenges encountered
• Maintain confidentiality of all data gathered
• Execute any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Required Qualifications

• First degree in Social Sciences from a recognized university
• Fluent in English, Swahili, and the local language
• Functional smartphone for data collection purposes
• Extensive experience in data collection, particularly quantitative research
• Experience with electronic data collection using ODK/Kobo Toolbox
• Excellent organizational skills with ability to follow study-specific procedures and guidelines reliably
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
