Job description
A reputable organization seeks a dedicated individual for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, diagnoses, and treatment planning
- Manage inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care, including admission, review, and discharge planning
- Prescribe, review, and monitor psychiatric medications in line with best clinical practice
- Provide psychotherapy and other evidence-based therapeutic interventions as appropriate
- Monitor treatment outcomes and adjust care plans accordingly
- Lead and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case conferences
- Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to medical officers, interns, and other clinical staff
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of clinical notes, reports, and medico-legal records
- Participate in on-call duties and emergency psychiatric services as scheduled
- Uphold patient safety, confidentiality, ethical standards, and professional conduct
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, audits, and clinical governance activities
- Participate in continuous professional development and hospital training programs
- Liaise with families, caregivers, and external stakeholders to support continuity of care
- Support the development and implementation of clinical policies, protocols, and S.O.Ps
- Any other duty as may be assigned

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB or equivalent)
- Master’s degree in Psychiatry or equivalent recognized qualification
- Registered and licensed by K.M.P.D.C
- Valid practicing license
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in psychiatric practice (mental hospital experience is an added advantage)
