Professor/Associate Professor - Mechanical Engineering - Robot/Automation at Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (Kenya-AIST)

Position Overview

We are seeking experienced professors to provide leadership in the design, development, and implementation of teaching and learning programmes at Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (Kenya-AIST). This role involves developing and implementing research strategies within your area of specialization, mobilizing resources, mentoring academic staff and students, establishing academic-industry collaborations, and championing the dissemination of research outputs and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and lead research partnerships, collaborations, and linkages in your area of specialization at national, regional, and international levels
• Initiate and lead external bids for research funding and consultancies within your area of specialization
• Exercise intellectual and educational leadership within the academic community
• Promote the development of innovative approaches to course design and delivery while ensuring compliance with the Institute's quality framework, educational standards, and regulations
• Identify learning needs of students and design appropriate learning outcomes
• Assess students' learning activities, conduct examinations, and provide constructive feedback
• Provide academic leadership by promoting a vibrant and productive academic environment
• Develop laboratory manuals in line with approved curricula in your thematic area
• Supervise students' theses, dissertations, internships, and attachments as applicable
• Mentor teaching and research staff and students in your area of specialization
• Champion the dissemination of research outputs and outcomes in areas of research interest
• Collaborate with stakeholders and industry in technology transfer and commercialization of innovation
