About the Role
Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology is seeking an experienced Professor or Associate Professor in Mechanical Engineering with specialization in Production Technology. This leadership position involves providing strategic direction in teaching, learning, and research programs, while fostering innovation and industry partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and lead research partnerships, collaborations, and linkages nationally, regionally, and internationally within your area of specialization
- Initiate and lead external bids for research funding and consultancy projects in your area of specialization
- Exercise intellectual and educational leadership through sapiential authority
- Promote innovative approaches to course design and delivery while ensuring compliance with the Institute's quality framework, educational standards, and regulations
- Identify learning needs of students and design appropriate learning outcomes
- Assess student learning activities, conduct examinations, and provide constructive feedback
- Provide academic leadership by fostering a vibrant and productive academic environment
- Develop laboratory manuals aligned with approved curricula in your thematic area
- Supervise students' thesis, dissertations, internships, and attachments as applicable
- Mentor teaching and research staff and students in your area of specialization
- Champion dissemination of research outputs and outcomes
- Collaborate with stakeholders and industry partners in technology transfer and commercialization of innovation
- Mobilize resources to support research and teaching initiatives
Required Qualifications & Experience
Candidates should possess advanced credentials in Mechanical Engineering with demonstrated expertise in Production Technology, along with a proven track record of research excellence, academic leadership, and industry collaboration.
