Professor/Associate Professor - Mechanical Engineering - Industrial/General Machine at Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (Kenya-AIST)

Position Overview

We invite applications from suitably qualified candidates for Professor and Associate Professor positions in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Industrial and General Machine Design. These positions offer the opportunity to provide leadership in designing, developing, and implementing comprehensive teaching and learning programmes at the Institute. You will develop and execute research strategies within your area of specialization, mobilize resources, mentor academic staff and students, and establish collaborations between academia and industry while championing the dissemination of research outputs.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and lead research partnerships, collaborations, and linkages in your area of specialization at national, regional, and international levels
• Initiate and lead external bids for research funding and consultancies within your specialization
• Exercise intellectual and educational leadership while promoting innovative approaches to course design and delivery
• Ensure compliance with the Institute's quality framework, educational standards, and regulations
• Identify student learning needs and design appropriate learning outcomes
• Assess student learning activities, conduct examinations, and provide constructive feedback
• Provide academic leadership by fostering a vibrant and productive academic environment
• Develop laboratory manuals aligned with approved curricula in your thematic area
• Supervise student theses, dissertations, internships, and attachments as applicable
• Mentor teaching and research staff and students in your area of specialization
• Champion the dissemination of research outputs and outcomes
• Collaborate with stakeholders and industry partners in technology transfer and commercialization of innovation
