Position Overview
Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (Kenya-AIST) invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for Professor and Associate Professor positions in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, with specialization in Electric Energy, Electric Power, and Grid Systems.
These positions provide leadership in designing, developing, and implementing teaching and learning programmes at the Institute. Successful candidates will develop and implement research strategies within their area of specialization, mobilize resources, mentor academic staff and students, establish academic-industry collaborations, and champion the dissemination of research outputs and outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and lead research partnerships, collaborations, and linkages nationally, regionally, and internationally within the area of specialization
- Initiate and lead external bids for research funding and consultancies in the area of specialization
- Exercise intellectual and educational leadership, providing sapiential authority in the field
- Promote the development of innovative approaches to course design and delivery while ensuring compliance with the Institute's quality framework, educational standards, and regulations
- Identify learning needs of students and design appropriate learning outcomes
- Assess students' learning activities, conduct examinations, and provide constructive feedback
- Provide academic leadership by fostering a vibrant and productive academic environment
- Develop laboratory manuals in line with approved curricula in the thematic area
- Supervise students' theses, dissertations, internships, and attachments, where applicable
- Mentor teaching and research staff and students in the area of specialization
- Champion the dissemination of research outputs and outcomes
- Collaborate with stakeholders and industry in technology transfer and commercialization of innovation
