Overview
This position offers a significant opportunity for career growth and leadership in chemical engineering education and research. We seek experienced professors to provide strategic direction in the design, development, and implementation of teaching and learning programmes at Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (Kenya-AIST). The successful candidate will develop and implement the Institute's research strategies within reaction engineering, mobilize resources, mentor academic staff and students, establish academic-industry collaborations, and champion the dissemination and commercialization of research outputs.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and lead research partnerships, collaborations, and linkages in reaction engineering at national, regional, and international levels
- Initiate and lead external bids for research funding and consultancies within the area of specialization
- Exercise sapiential authority and provide intellectual and educational leadership
- Promote the development of innovative approaches to course design and delivery while ensuring compliance with the Institute's quality framework, educational standards, and regulations
- Identify learning needs of students and design appropriate learning outcomes; assess student learning activities and provide constructive feedback
- Provide academic leadership to foster a vibrant and productive academic environment
- Develop laboratory manuals aligned with approved curricula in reaction engineering
- Supervise students' theses, dissertations, internships, and attachments as applicable
- Mentor teaching and research staff and students in the area of specialization
- Champion dissemination of research outputs and outcomes in areas of research interest
- Collaborate with stakeholders and industry in technology transfer and commercialization of innovation
