Position Overview

We invite applications from suitably qualified candidates for Professor/Associate Professor positions in Chemical Engineering with specialization in Polymer Engineering at Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (Kenya-AIST).

This position involves providing strategic leadership in designing, developing, and implementing teaching and learning programmes at the Institute. Successful candidates will develop and implement research strategies within their area of specialization, mobilize resources, mentor academic staff and students, establish industry collaborations, and drive technology transfer and commercialization of innovations.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and lead research partnerships, collaborations, and linkages nationally, regionally, and internationally within your area of specialization
• Initiate and lead external bids for research funding and consultancy projects
• Exercise intellectual and educational leadership within the academic community
• Promote innovative approaches to course design and delivery while ensuring compliance with the Institute's quality framework, educational standards, and regulations
• Identify student learning needs and design appropriate learning outcomes
• Assess student learning activities, conduct examinations, and provide constructive feedback
• Provide academic leadership to foster a vibrant and productive academic environment
• Develop laboratory manuals aligned with approved curricula in your thematic area
• Supervise students' theses, dissertations, internships, and attachments where applicable
• Mentor teaching and research staff and students in your area of specialization
• Champion dissemination of research outputs and outcomes
• Collaborate with stakeholders and industry on technology transfer and commercialization of innovation
