Professor/Associate Professor - Agricultural Biotechnology - Crop Production at Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (Kenya-AIST)

Position Overview

Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (Kenya-AIST) seeks experienced professors to provide leadership in agricultural biotechnology and crop production. This role encompasses designing and implementing comprehensive teaching and learning programmes, developing research strategies, mobilizing resources, and fostering academic-industry collaborations to advance innovation and technology transfer.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and lead research partnerships, collaborations, and linkages in agricultural biotechnology and crop production at national, regional, and international levels
• Initiate and lead external bids for research funding and consultancies within the area of specialization
• Exercise intellectual and educational leadership within the academic community
• Promote innovative approaches to course design and delivery while ensuring compliance with the Institute's quality framework, educational standards, and regulations
• Identify student learning needs and design appropriate learning outcomes
• Assess student learning activities, conduct examinations, and provide constructive feedback
• Provide academic leadership to foster a vibrant and productive academic environment
• Develop laboratory manuals aligned with approved curricula in the thematic area
• Supervise student theses, dissertations, internships, and attachments as applicable
• Mentor teaching and research staff and students in the area of specialization
• Champion dissemination of research outputs and outcomes
• Collaborate with stakeholders and industry partners on technology transfer and commercialization of innovations
