Pharmacy Technicians

Key Responsibilities: - Accurately dispense prescribed medications in accordance with prescriptions, hospital policies, and legal requirements - Review prescriptions for completeness, accuracy, and appropriateness and clarify queries - Provide medication counseling to patients and caregivers on proper use, side effects, and adherence - Manage storage, handling, and security of medicines, including controlled and psychotropic substances - Maintain accurate pharmacy records, registers, and electronic dispensing systems - Monitor stock levels, expiry dates, batch numbers, and initiate timely re-ordering - Receive, verify, and document pharmaceutical supplies from approved vendors - Participate in pharmaco-vigilance activities, including reporting of adverse drug reactions - Support clinicians in medication monitoring, dose adjustments, and therapeutic outcomes - Ensure compliance with pharmacy laws, regulations, and hospital S.O.Ps - Maintain cleanliness, orderliness, and infection prevention standards within the pharmacy - Participate in audits, inspections, and quality improvement initiatives - Collaborate with nurses and clinicians to ensure continuity of medication therapy - Participate in patient safety programs and multidisciplinary team meetings - Uphold confidentiality, ethics, and professionalism at all time. - Any other duty as may be assigned Skills: - Knowledge of psychiatric medications and controlled drugs will be an advantage - Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills - High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail - Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: - Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology - Registered and licensed by the relevant professional body - Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a hospital pharmacy setting (mental health experience is an added advantage)
