## Title: General Insurance Officer
About the Role
The General Insurance Officer is responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of general insurance products, including motor, property, casualty, engineering, and marine lines. This role ensures accurate underwriting and risk assessment to maintain profitability and compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess that proposed insurance solutions meet established standards
- Advise clients on unforeseen risk exposures
- Arrange risk surveys and assessments of proposed insurable interests before making proposals for client consideration
- Ensure accurate premium computations and timely collection of all premiums
- Ensure timely debiting of policies in the system
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of policies underwritten and decisions made
- Respond promptly to client inquiries from walk-in clients, telephone, and email communications
- Liaise with insurance companies on technical underwriting issues relating to client policies
- Generate renewal registers and review and dispatch renewal notices to clients in a timely manner
- Collect accurate information and documentation to support claims reporting and adjustment
- Ensure client claims are settled efficiently and within agreed turnaround times following documentation receipt
- Advise clients on claims handling procedures with possible timelines to final settlement
- Engage external service providers (garages, assessors) to enhance service delivery
- Communicate policy terms of service to clients regarding new business and renewals
- Apply credit control policy by ensuring debit/credit notes are mailed to clients and intermediaries promptly
- Liaise with insurance companies to issue policy documents, endorsements, debit notes, invoices, and valuation reports to clients
- Generate claims registers for corporate clients
