Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct nutritional assessments for inpatients and outpatients, including dietary history, anthropometric measurements, and nutritional risk screening
- Develop individualized nutrition care plans tailored to patients’ psychiatric and medical needs
- Provide nutrition counseling and education to patients and caregivers
- Monitor patients’ nutritional status and adjust care plans as needed
- Support management of nutrition-related conditions such as metabolic syndrome, obesity, diabetes, and medication-related weight changes
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, nurses, and other clinicians as part of the multidisciplinary team
- Participate in ward rounds, case conferences, and care planning meetings
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and infection prevention standards
- Advise on therapeutic diets and special feeding requirements
- Maintain accurate nutrition records, reports, and documentation
- Support menu planning to ensure balanced, culturally appropriate, and therapeutic meals
- Participate in quality improvement, audits, and patient safety initiatives
- Provide nutrition education sessions for staff and patients when required
- Uphold confidentiality, ethics, and professional standards at all times
- Participate in continuous professional development activities
- Any other duty as may be assigned
Skills:
- Knowledge of nutrition therapy related to psychiatric conditions and psychotropic medications will be an advantage
- Strong communication, counseling, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team
- High standards of professionalism, empathy, and patient-centered care
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Diploma or Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or related field
- Registered and licensed by the relevant professional body
- At least 2 years’ experience in a clinical or hospital setting (mental health experience is an added advantage)
