## Title: Nursing Lecturer – Midwifery
About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Nursing Lecturer in Midwifery to join our expanding team at Presbyterian University of East Africa. This is an academic leadership position that combines teaching excellence with research and professional development.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver teaching and training in midwifery and related nursing areas
- Develop and review curricula to ensure relevance and quality
- Conduct research and innovation activities with a focus on grant writing and fundraising
- Supervise and mentor postgraduate and junior staff
- Assess student performance through examinations, practical sessions, fieldwork supervision, and coursework, providing constructive feedback
- Publish peer-reviewed research and disseminate knowledge through various channels
- Ensure adherence to quality assurance and accreditation standards set by relevant regulatory bodies
- Support the Head of Department and programme leaders in strategic development and departmental administration
- Undertake professional development activities to maintain and enhance expertise
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head of Department
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Nursing or equivalent qualification from a recognized university
- Registration with relevant professional nursing bodies
- Minimum 28 points from peer-reviewed publications since appointment as Lecturer or Senior Lecturer
Required Experience
- Minimum three (3) years of full-time teaching at university level as a Lecturer, OR minimum six (6) years of professional experience in the relevant field
- Demonstrated experience supervising a minimum of three (3) postgraduate students to completion
- Familiarity with quality assurance and accreditation requirements relevant to nursing programs
Desirable Qualifications
- Proven experience in grant writing and research funding
- Demonstrated ability to lead research projects, secure competitive bids, and generate research income
- Excellent written communication skills
