Management Accountant at Tenwek Hospital

Job Purpose

This position reports to the Finance Manager. The successful candidate will ensure compliance of financial transactions to approved financial policies, procedures, and control systems in order to support sound decision-making based on accurate financial information.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Drive and coordinate the annual budget process for the Hospital, providing support to project companies in the preparation of annual budgets
• Prepare consolidated budgets and complete all budget-related templates accurately, ensuring timely submission of all reports
• Provide financial support to departments to enhance their financial reporting and bridge any gaps
• Set up and maintain financial reporting systems for the Hospital
• Review cost analyses and prepare control reports and performance reports
• Prepare timely and accurate management reports and distribute to appropriate users
• Prepare monthly cash flow forecasts for the Hospital
• Participate in the preparation of board papers
• Ensure proper costing of products and services
• Develop financial reports for forecasting, trending, and results analysis
• Monitor departmental expenditure against budgets and project plans
• Query department budgets where significant variances exist
• Interpret financial transactions and events to support business decision-making

Qualifications & Competencies

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Finance
• CPA(K) certification; current member of ICPAK in good standing
• Minimum of five (5) years' work experience in a hospital setting
• High integrity and ethical practice
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong team player with ability to work collaboratively in team environments
• Excellent analytical and communication skills
