## Title: Legal Officer
Position Overview
The Legal Officer shall be responsible for managing the University's legal affairs and serving as the Legal Advisor to the University Management and Council.
Reporting Line
Reports to: The Vice-Chancellor
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal counsel to University Council and Management Board
- Negotiate, draft, and review all agreements and contracts between the University and other parties in consultation with user departments, and report to the University Management Board
- Prepare legal and quasi-legal documents for the University as required
- Advise the University on compliance with all relevant statutory and regulatory requirements in its operations
- Represent the University in all legal matters
- Handle cases involving the University in liaison with external lawyers where applicable
- Ensure formulated policies and procedures adhere to internal and external regulations
- Serve as a Commissioner of Oaths and Notary Public for the University
- Perform any other duties as assigned by University Management
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Law (LL.B) from a recognized university
- Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a current practicing certificate
- Minimum four (4) years of experience in the grade of Legal Officer or comparable relevant position
- Demonstrated experience in conveyancing, labour laws, public procurement law, commercial law, and legal drafting
- Strong negotiation skills
- Demonstrable ICT skills
- Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya (relevant documents required)
- Demonstrable professional competence and high administrative ability in work performance and results
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Law (LL.M)

- Must be a Christian in good standing
