Lecturer in Machine Learning and Big Data/ Data Science at United States International University - USIU Africa

Position Overview

USIU Africa seeks a dedicated Lecturer in Machine Learning and Big Data / Data Science to join the School of Science and Technology. The successful candidate will report to the Dean of the School of Science and Technology and be responsible for teaching, conducting research, and providing service to the institution and community.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in machine learning, big data, and data science specializations
• Support and mentor students in their academic and career development
• Participate in curriculum development to ensure programs remain current and relevant
• Participate in program assessment and review processes
• Supervise student research projects, theses, and dissertations at undergraduate and graduate levels
• Conduct independent research in your area of expertise
• Engage in service activities supporting the University, the profession, and the community
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Applicants must meet one of the following:

• An earned PhD or equivalent doctoral degree qualification in a relevant field from an accredited and recognized university, and be registered or eligible for registration with the relevant professional body
• OR a Master's degree in a related field from an accredited university with a minimum of 3 years' teaching and/or industrial experience in the relevant field

Professional Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years' experience in teaching and/or industrial experience in the relevant field
• Minimum of twenty-four (24) publication points as per CUE Standards & Guidelines 2014, of which at least sixteen (16) must be from refereed scholarly journal papers
• Registered or registerable with the relevant professional body
• Candidates with Master's degrees must be enrolled in or committed to pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or equivalent doctoral degree qualification
