## Title: Kitchen Assistant

About the Role

Mirema School, a Christian educational institution, is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support the daily operations of our school kitchen. You will work under the supervision of the Head of Department - Catering, contributing to efficient resource utilization, hygiene, safety, and optimal kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in ingredient preparation including chopping, peeling, sorting, and cutting
  • Prepare and serve meals for learners, staff, and school events
  • Ensure timely serving of all meals throughout the day
  • Maintain a constant supply of clean and fresh water for cleaning and cooking
  • Participate in food preparation and follow catering department instructions on kitchen operations
  • Ensure excellent meal presentation by dressing dishes before serving
  • Follow approved menus to support proper nutrition and healthy eating standards
  • Ensure safe food storage and proper management of food and kitchen items
  • Check the quality of meal ingredients according to the daily menu
  • Manage food removal from the kitchen through safe packaging or waste management following hygiene standards

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma or Certificate in Food Production or Catering
  • 3 years of relevant experience
  • Valid certificate of good conduct
  • Valid food handler's certificate
