## Title: ICU/HDU Unit In-Charge

About the Role

Mater Misericordiae Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya is recruiting an experienced nursing professional to lead and manage the ICU/HDU unit. This position requires a strategic leader committed to delivering exceptional patient care while maintaining high operational standards.

Main Responsibilities

  • Monitor standards of nursing care and support services to ensure delivery of quality patient care
  • Provide leadership, supervision, and mentorship to ICU nursing and support staff
  • Participate in budgeting, procurement, and inventory management for the ICU
  • Monitor and evaluate quality indicators and patient safety metrics within the unit
  • Address issues and concerns within the unit to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction
  • Prepare and submit monthly performance reports to management
  • Update staff on health and safety requirements to ensure a safe environment and compliance with statutory requirements
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary care and collaborate closely with physicians, anesthetists, and other departments
  • Monitor staff scheduling, performance appraisals, and continuous professional development
  • Institute cost control measures to maximize efficiency
  • Ensure effective infection control measures in the unit
  • Work in liaison with the Security Manager to ensure adequate security at the premises and report any incidents
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the department and provide reports as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • KRN/M or KRCHN registration, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (BScN)
  • Higher Diploma in Critical Care Nursing
  • Valid Nursing Practice Licence
  • Valid BLS/ACLS certificates
  • Minimum of 5 years Critical Care Nursing experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role
