## Title: GIS Officer - Sudan
About the Role
This position offers a great opportunity for career growth. As the GIS Officer for Sudan, you will play a critical role in supporting humanitarian assessment and mapping activities, managing geospatial data systems, and building technical capacity within the organization.
GIS Map Production and Design
- Prepare, conceive, and produce maps based on organizational needs
- Identify map information requirements and access appropriate map information sources
- Ensure accurate linkages between spatial databases and assessment data
- Verify that produced maps meet REACH and partner requirements
Data Collection Supervision and Monitoring
- Conceptualize methodologies for collecting geospatial data in the field
- Organize and supervise GIS field missions
- Monitor accuracy of data collected during field operations
- Cross-check field data, ensure regular updates, and resolve discrepancies
GIS Product Development
- Implement GIS components in approved projects
- Develop map templates and spatial data frameworks
- Contribute to strategic and programmatic development of the country team
Database and Data Management
- Manage and maintain databases for consolidation of assessment-related and GIS data
- Ensure capitalization of tools and procedures related to mapping and databases
- Support the assessment team in collection and management of spatial datasets
- Verify, update, and monitor accuracy of collected data
GIS Capacity Building
- Develop and deliver internal training on data management, GIS, and mapping for ACTED staff
- Provide training on assessment methodologies and geospatial techniques
Technical Support and Solutions
- Identify and implement effective, adapted technical solutions and partnerships
- Provide technical backstopping to GIS/database teams
- Deliver capacity-building support on database maintenance and advanced GIS techniques
- Support collection and integration of spatial datasets with REACH activities
