Freelance Grant & Proposal Writer (Commission-Based) – Nairobi at City Eye Hospital

About This Role

We are seeking a Freelance Grant & Proposal Writer to help identify, develop, and submit funding proposals to foundations, NGOs, corporates, and development agencies. This role is commission-based — you earn an agreed percentage only when a proposal you write is successfully funded.

Key Responsibilities

• Research and identify grant and funding opportunities aligned with organizational goals
• Write compelling, well-structured proposals and concept notes
• Ensure compliance with funder requirements, deadlines, and formats
• Collaborate with internal team members to gather necessary data, impact stories, and budgets
• Track proposals and follow up on submissions

Requirements

• Proven experience writing successful grant or funding proposals, preferably in the healthcare, social impact, or NGO sectors
• Strong written communication and research skills
• Self-driven, reliable, and able to work with minimal supervision
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
• Familiarity with donor databases and online grant platforms (advantageous)
• Based in Kenya (Nairobi preferred)

Compensation

• Commission-based: A success fee is paid upon confirmed grant or funding award
• Option to transition to a retainer model in the future based on performance and results
