Job description
We are looking for a qualified candidate to fill this position.
- The ESG Lead will coordinate and conduct SAVI activities in Kenya for KAM. The position combines general project management responsibilities with technical facilitation and implementation with companies. In the role the candidate will support Kenyan companies (KAM members) in successfully achieving capacity to reporting and improving their ESG performance and facilitating sustainability dialogues across selected companies value chains.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead the design, localization, and integration of ESG and EUDR compliance services into KAM’s consulting portfolio under the SAVI programme.
- Coordinate sector prioritization, company scoping, and ESG/EUDR needs, readiness, and gap assessments across various manufacturing value chains.
- Oversee development and quality assurance of ESG and EUDR services and compliance roadmapsaligned with international standards.
- Build institutional delivery capacity at KAM through internal ESG and EUDR trainings and service delivery support.
- Recruit, onboard, and deliver pilot cohorts for ESG reporting and EUDR compliance services.
- Lead baseline assessments, risk assessments, and compliance diagnostics for participating companies in collaboration with international consultants.
- Design, mobilize and facilitate group trainings, workshops, and awareness sessions on ESG reporting and EUDR requirements.
- Coordinate one-on-one technical assistance, site visits, field validations, assessments, and value-chain mapping activities.
- Facilitate upstream supplier engagement and multi-stakeholder dialogue to support traceability, due diligence, and regulatory compliance.
Requirements:
Education:
- University degree in environmental management, engineering, business sustainability, or related field.
- Postgraduate degree or professional certification in climate change, ESG reporting, or project management is an advantage.
Personal attributes and skills:
- 5–7 years’ experience in ESG, sustainability or environment, industrial development, or climate-related projects.
- Demonstrated experience in supporting companies in carbon accounting, making ESG/EUDR strategies or climate-action plans.
- Strong ability to facilitate interactive workshops and company sessions on sustainability, and ESG integration.
- Proven ability to develop or review ESG reports and advise on sustainability indicators and disclosure standards (GRI, SASB, or equivalent).
