Environmentalist II at Kenya Rural Roads Authority

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated professional to join Kenya Rural Roads Authority as an Environmentalist II. This is an entry and training grade position where you will work under the supervision of a designated Officer, supporting the Authority's environmental management and sustainable development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide support to project development initiatives and ensure environmental development issues are addressed
• Assist in the development of tools and checklists for preparing ESIA (Environmental and Social Impact Assessment) Studies
• Assess the level of awareness on major environmental safeguard issues affecting the public and other stakeholders
• Participate in determining statistical trends in environmental parameters and variables
• Monitor and evaluate road projects to ensure environmental safeguards are properly implemented
• Assist in monitoring progress on environmental performance systems
• Support all activities involved in environmental sustainability as assigned
• Prepare periodic reports on the status of environmental safeguards implementation
• Collect data and information and prepare periodic reports on environmental issues

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in one of the following disciplines:
  • Environmental Studies
  • Environmental Science
  • Environmental Planning & Management
  • Environmental Health
  • Environmental & Biosystems Engineering
  • Environmental Conservation & Natural Resources Management
  • Or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
• Proficiency in computer applications
