## Title: Electrical Engineering Technician
About the Role
Kinetic Controls Limited seeks a dedicated Electrical Engineering Technician to join our team in Mombasa, Kenya. This role focuses on instrumentation, automation, and maintenance of electrical systems in industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and troubleshoot PLC programming and control systems
- Operate and optimize SCADA systems and human-machine interface (HMI) programming
- Manage Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and motor control systems
- Monitor and optimize power quality using analysis tools
- Maintain electro-pneumatic, electrohydraulic, and electromechanical systems
- Interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and P&ID diagrams
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety protocols and permit-to-work systems
- Identify hazards and implement safety measures in energized systems
Required Qualifications
- Diploma, Higher National Diploma, or Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical and Electronic Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of practical experience in similar industries (e.g., oil extraction, food processing, heavy manufacturing)
- First Aid and Fire Safety training certification
- OSHA Certification or equivalent
- Preferred: Currently residing in Mombasa or the Coastal Region
Technical Skills Required
- Instrumentation and automation systems
- PLC programming and troubleshooting
- SCADA systems and HMI programming
- Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and motor control systems
- Electrical systems applicable to oil extraction plants
- Power analysis tools for quality monitoring and optimization
- Electro-pneumatic, electrohydraulic, and electromechanical systems
- Reading and interpreting electrical blueprints, schematics, and P&IDs
- Knowledge of electrical standards and codes relevant to the industry
Safety Knowledge
- Electrical safety protocols and procedures
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
- Permit-to-work systems
- Confined space entry protocols
- Energized system protocols
