## Title: Electrical Engineering Technician

About the Role

Kinetic Controls Limited seeks a dedicated Electrical Engineering Technician to join our team in Mombasa, Kenya. This role focuses on instrumentation, automation, and maintenance of electrical systems in industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and troubleshoot PLC programming and control systems
  • Operate and optimize SCADA systems and human-machine interface (HMI) programming
  • Manage Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and motor control systems
  • Monitor and optimize power quality using analysis tools
  • Maintain electro-pneumatic, electrohydraulic, and electromechanical systems
  • Interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and P&ID diagrams
  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety protocols and permit-to-work systems
  • Identify hazards and implement safety measures in energized systems

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma, Higher National Diploma, or Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical and Electronic Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of practical experience in similar industries (e.g., oil extraction, food processing, heavy manufacturing)
  • First Aid and Fire Safety training certification
  • OSHA Certification or equivalent
  • Preferred: Currently residing in Mombasa or the Coastal Region

Technical Skills Required

  • Instrumentation and automation systems
  • PLC programming and troubleshooting
  • SCADA systems and HMI programming
  • Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and motor control systems
  • Electrical systems applicable to oil extraction plants
  • Power analysis tools for quality monitoring and optimization
  • Electro-pneumatic, electrohydraulic, and electromechanical systems
  • Reading and interpreting electrical blueprints, schematics, and P&IDs
  • Knowledge of electrical standards and codes relevant to the industry

Safety Knowledge

  • Electrical safety protocols and procedures
  • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
  • Permit-to-work systems
  • Confined space entry protocols
  • Energized system protocols
  • Hazard identification techniques
