Role Summary
The ECD/DCC Teacher plays a critical role in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young children by providing quality early childhood education and care within a safe, nurturing, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment. The teacher supports the holistic development and well-being of every child, including cognitive, physical, emotional, social, and moral development, through age-appropriate, developmentally responsive activities.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
The ECD & DCC Teacher is responsible for promoting the safety, well-being, development, and rights of children through quality early learning and care services.
Child Safeguarding and Welfare
- Safeguard children at all times and act in the best interests of the child
- Identify, document, and report any signs or concerns of child abuse, neglect, exploitation, or violence in accordance with safeguarding policies
- Report any child welfare cases promptly to the Welfare & Safeguarding Assistant or relevant authority
- Maintain confidentiality and ethical handling of all child-related information
- Promote children's rights, dignity, and protection in daily practice
- Contribute to emergency preparedness and response measures to ensure child safety
Teaching, Learning, and Development
- Deliver age-appropriate learning experiences in line with the approved ECDE syllabus and curriculum
- Organize structured and unstructured activities that encourage curiosity, creativity, exploration, and learning about the world
- Support holistic child development, including cognitive, physical, emotional, social, and moral growth
- Foster school readiness skills such as independence, communication, cooperation, and positive learning attitudes
- Observe children for developmental, emotional, or behavioral concerns and refer them appropriately
- Support children with special needs or disabilities and coordinate with relevant support services
