## Title: Deputy Director, Finance & Accounts
About the Role
Bandari Maritime Academy seeks a dedicated and experienced finance professional for the position of Deputy Director, Finance & Accounts. This senior leadership role is responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting operations of the academy.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement internal financial accounting policies, strategies, standards, programmes, and regulations
- Implement financial management and accounting regulations, systems, and procedures in accordance with the PFMA
- Provide technical advice on financial management and accounting for the academy's financial resources
- Serve as secretary to the Budget Implementation Committee (BIC)
- Maintain books of accounts relating to income, expenditure, assets, and liabilities of the academy
- Monitor budget implementation and prepare related reports
- Ensure statutory deductions are remitted to relevant authorities
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of the finance division
- Prepare progress reports for the division
- Plan and prepare budgets for the division
- Ensure staff development and capability building within the division
Minimum Requirements
Experience
- Minimum 15 years of relevant work experience in finance and accounting
- At least 3 years of experience at the grade of Assistant Director or equivalent
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in one of the following: Commerce (Finance/Accounting option), Economics, Business Administration (Finance/Accounting option), Business Management (Finance/Accounting option), Finance, or any other relevant qualification from a recognized institution
- Master's Degree in one of the following: Finance, Business Administration (Finance/Accounting option), Business Management (Finance/Accounting option), or any other relevant qualification from a recognized institution
Professional Qualifications
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
- Member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPA) in good standing
- Leadership course certification lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution

- Proficiency in computer application skills
