Debt Recovery Officer at Caritas MFB

Job Purpose

To assist in executing debt recovery strategy in reducing the Non-Performing Accounts (NPA) portfolio while reporting regularly on NPAs including write-offs, collections, and security coverage.

Key Responsibilities

• Track outstanding debts and monitor account status
• Plan and execute course of action to recover owed money
• Locate and contact debtors through structured field visits
• Negotiate payoff deadlines and payment plans
• Enforce remedial measures such as restructuring or legal action
• Handle customer questions and complaints professionally
• Build and maintain trust with debtors
• Update account status and database regularly
• Identify gaps in the system and recommend solutions
• Ensure compliance with legal requirements when legal action is necessary
• Maintain detailed records of debtors unable or unwilling to pay and report to supervisor

Qualifications and Experience Requirements

• Degree in Business Management, Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
• Professional banking qualifications (advantageous)
• 2 years' work experience in a bank as a debt collector (advantageous)
• Experience working with targets and tight deadlines
• Knowledge of relevant legal requirements
• Proficiency in MS Office and database systems
• Strong negotiation and persuasion skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong time-management abilities
