Job description
We are looking for a qualified candidate to fill this position.
- Create and configure new Microsoft SQL Server instances.
- Ensure high availability using Always On Availability Groups, replication, mirroring, and failover clustering.
- Maintain database integrity and ensure secure, controlled access.
- Conduct routine database user recertification.
- Perform database monitoring and administration using provided tools.
- Work closely with the ICT infrastructure team on physical data storage management, design, and planning.
- Monitor and maintain SQL Server jobs on a routine basis; troubleshoot failed jobs and resolve noted gaps within SLA.
- Provide technical guidance for production design, development, integration, and testing.
- Ensure optimal database performance through performance analysis, tuning, capacity planning, system sizing, partitioning, statistics updating, and ongoing maintenance.
- Handle support and maintenance issues effectively; communicate and collaborate with other IT departments.
- Provide risk management support for database administration activities.
- Create and maintain support structures (e.g., employees, user groups) for consultation and best-practice adoption.
- Prepare monthly reports and other reports as required from time to time.
- Perform database administration tasks including backups, recovery, and upkeep.
- Carry out database restoration in various environments.
- Monitor and resolve issues related to blocking sessions and data locks.
- Analyze memory usage, lock statistics, I/O performance, database response times, wait events, top sessions, and background processes.
- Create and maintain indexes to meet critical dataset response-time requirements for time-sensitive activities.
- Download, install, and apply SQL Server service packs and update
