Data Officer at ACTED

About the Role

We are seeking a Data Officer to join our team in Nairobi, Kenya. This position involves managing research data operations, supporting research planning and implementation, and ensuring data quality throughout the research cycle.

Research Planning Responsibilities

• Contribute to the identification and implementation of effective and adapted data management and analysis solutions for research, in line with relevant research and data guidelines
• Support sampling design, creation and management of data collection tools (ODK or KoBo)
• Provide training on data cleaning and management techniques
• Support data analysis setup, specifically in the R environment
• Contribute to drafting research Terms of Reference (ToRs) with focus on sampling, data collection tools, data analysis plans, and data management plans
• Support the development of qualitative and quantitative data collection tools to meet research cycle and assessment requirements
• Support construction of quantitative samples in coordination with relevant assessment and GIS officers
• Track progress and delays of assigned tasks throughout the research cycle, reporting issues promptly in writing and verbally

Research Implementation Responsibilities

• Support identification and training of enumerators for primary data collection when relevant
• Oversee data collection in line with agreed ToRs, including data cleaning processes, checks and data cleaning scripts
• Document all changes in data collection that lead to modifications in agreed ToRs, ensuring relevant stakeholders are informed and provide approval

Data Management, Cleaning and Analysis Responsibilities

• Monitor accuracy of collected data in line with Data Cleaning Minimum Standards
• Manage the analysis pipeline from data collection through to final products
