Credit Analyst at Credit Bank

About the Role

The Credit Analyst is responsible for ensuring compliance with internal credit policies and procedures and facilitating the management of credit risk in line with CBK prudential guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with all internal and regulatory credit and portfolio-related policies
• Maintain high turnaround time (TAT) for credit proposals
• Ensure all appraisal decisions meet agreed Service Level Agreements
• Coordinate with Internal Audit and Branches to ensure adherence to Credit Policy and lending guidelines
• Review loan security margins based on current market trends and advise management on necessary adjustments
• Review and make recommendations relating to all new loan facilities
• Ensure proper reporting, documentation, and review to determine that lending to respective segments remains within acceptable risk levels
• Manage credit risks through analysis and recommendation of approvals for facilities within the institution's tolerable risk levels
• Perform other assigned tasks as directed by the Chief Credit Officer

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Economics, Accounting, Finance, or a related business field
• Minimum 5 years' banking experience with at least 3 years' experience in Credit Analysis
• Professional qualification in Credit (advantageous)

• In-depth industry and product knowledge
• Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other relevant applications
• Strong knowledge of regulatory policies and guidelines
• Knowledge of the Kenyan economy and market dynamics
