Consultant Paediatrician at AAR Hospital

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Consultant Pediatrician to join our dynamic team at AAR Hospital. This is a full-time position offering the opportunity to provide comprehensive pediatric care across multiple clinical settings while contributing to the professional development of junior medical staff.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Undertake clinical procedures in Accident & Emergency, Wards, Clinics, and Outpatient Centers
• Manage initial patient care, including assessment, stabilization, and disposition of patients with emergent conditions according to medical staff policy
• Provide clinical care in intensive care settings in accordance with unit policies
• Make decisions regarding immediate patient management and referrals as appropriate
• Conduct daily ward rounds and patient reviews
• Enhance evidence-based clinical practice
• Maintain patient confidentiality and professional work ethics
• Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to Senior Registrars and Medical Officers
• Facilitate continuing medical education sessions
• Participate in disaster management protocols when required
• Contribute to research initiatives and clinical protocol development
• Champion continuous quality improvement in clinical practice and service delivery
• Ensure all quality standards are met, including quality of care, turnaround times, communication, and customer service
• Participate in on-call services
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery
• Master of Medicine in Pediatrics or other recognized board-certified equivalent qualification
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification

Professional Qualification

• Specialist Recognition

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of pediatric clinical experience
• Previous work experience in a busy hospital environment

Licensing and Registration

• Valid registration and annual practice license
• Registered with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board
