## Title: Community Oral Health Officer
Position Overview
The position holder is responsible for providing comprehensive, patient-centered oral healthcare services. This role requires delivering safe, effective, timely, efficient, and equitable care to all patients visiting the medical center.
Minimum Qualifications
- Diploma in Community Oral Health
- Registered by the Oral Health Association of Kenya (OHAK)
- Valid annual practice license
- BLS Certification
- Proficiency in computer application packages
- Wide knowledge of the health industry
- Technical skills and leadership competencies
- Proven communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills
- Ability to work under minimum supervision
Experience Required
- 3 years' experience in a similar role in a busy hospital setting
Key Responsibilities
- Assess dental conditions and needs of patients using defined dental patient screening and monitoring procedures
- Analyze x-rays and evaluate dental needs, including medical history review and dental chart procedures
- Conduct, develop, and mount radiographs as well as trace radiographs required for corrective treatment
- Undertake treatment and care for teeth and tissue problems using specified equipment, tools, and established oral health procedures
- Provide patient education on dental care and oral health maintenance
- Manage and maintain dental department inventory, including consumables, equipment, and instruments
- Maintain stock control procedures for dental services to ensure accountability
- Document patient dental history, chief complaints, and observations, including laboratory procedures and follow-up results
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and safety standards
- Contribute clinical dental expertise to patient care in the facilities
- Perform administrative duties and risk management
- Stay up-to-date with new developments in the dental profession
