## Title: Commercial & Conveyancing Advocate – Nairobi & Nakuru

About the Role

A prominent medium-sized law firm specializing in various practice areas seeks 2 advocates to join their team. This position offers a great opportunity for career growth in commercial and conveyancing law.

Role Objective

To provide expert legal counsel on commercial and property transactions, manage conveyancing matters, and oversee client interactions with government bodies and regulatory authorities.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide legal opinions on matters relating to property and real estate
  • Draft conveyancing documents and legal documents
  • Send terms of engagement and estimates of fees and disbursements to clients
  • Oversee handling of all client matters before the Lands Registry, Local Authorities, Survey of Kenya, and National Lands Commission
  • Liaison with clients and key stakeholders such as mortgage lenders, estate agents, land valuers, and surveyors
  • Provide legal opinion and advice on commercial and corporate transactions
  • Negotiate, draft, and review commercial contracts and legal documents, ensuring proper execution
  • Offer legal advice to clients on the legal processes involved in purchasing and selling property
  • Conduct due diligence on conveyancing transactions, prepare sale agreements and completion documents
  • Ensure proper registration of documents with relevant authorities
  • Prepare property lease agreements and ensure contracts are duly signed as scheduled
  • Assist with due diligence and intellectual property issues related to contracts, agreements, and other transactional matters
  • Prepare security documents
  • Enhance the firm's client base through effective liaison with existing clients
  • Perform any other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of two (2) years post-admission experience in a busy law firm
  • An upper second-class Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized university
  • A valid practicing certificate
