About the Role
Peponi House Preparatory School is seeking a qualified and experienced Assistant Director of Music to join our dynamic music department in Nairobi, Kenya. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate musician and educator to develop and lead music and drama initiatives within a large, well-established preparatory school.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Fully qualified teacher with QTS (or equivalent teaching registration) and Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
- Proven experience as an Assistant Director of Music or full-time Music Teacher in a UK preparatory school or UK-style school setting
- Comprehensive understanding of large, busy music departments with integrated drama
- Strong musician with proficient piano skills for accompanying everyday musical activities and ability to play additional instruments
- Solid experience teaching music in both classroom and instrumental settings
- Demonstrated experience conducting vocal and instrumental groups
- Experience leading orchestras and musical productions
- Experience working with and ideally leading teams of peripatetic teachers
- Strong grounding in music theory
- Evidence of continued professional development and engagement with evidence-based research
