## Title: Accountant
Position Overview
This position offers a great opportunity for career growth within the Collaborative Centre for Gender and Development in Nairobi, Kenya.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Update Cashbook and Ledger in the Accounting system
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations on the ledger and reconcile discrepancies
- Ensure timely payments of office utilities including electricity, internet, rent, and statutory deductions
- Fill Finance documents (receipts, payment vouchers, etc.) and ensure accurate record keeping
- Assist in verification and review of staff salaries
- Clean and review data entries on Quick Books
- Reconcile bank accounts periodically and creditor/debtor accounts, advising on resolution of any differences
- Receive and verify payment requests to ensure accuracy and accountability before processing
- Oversee preparation and filing of reimbursement forms
- Support program team with financial reports to donor partners
- Support preparation for audits
- Manage cheque books and issue cheques for payment while adhering to CCGD policies and procedures
- Ensure that CCGD payments adhere to taxation, banking, and other relevant laws and policies
- Perform any other duties as assigned by your supervisor
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA-K certification
- Minimum 3-5 years of working experience, preferably in an NGO or similar setup
Required Skills and Experience
- Proficiency in NGO financial systems, such as Quick Books
- Strong budgeting, cash flow management, and financial analysis skills
- Understanding of donor report preparation
- Familiarity with grant management, donor regulations, audit processes, and compliance
