Senior Specialist, Indirect Tax at MTN Ghana

Position Overview

Provide specialist advice on indirect taxes to MTN Ghana and Mobile Money Ltd, including matters related to CST, VAT, NHIL Levy, GETFund Levy, Customs, and other related taxation issues. Ensure the business maintains full tax compliance across all areas of indirect taxation and support key distributors in their tax obligations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop indirect tax plans and solutions through research and tracking of economic, political, and legislative trends affecting the telecommunications and ICT industry
• Identify and research local and foreign taxation issues relevant to the business
• Resolve transactional tax queries and issues raised by internal departments, including those related to Communication Services, VAT, WHTVAT, and Customs
• Ensure accurate and timely accounting and filing of all indirect tax returns
• Process remittance of VAT on normal operations, foreign services, and proceeds from disposal of fixed assets
• Liaise with internal stakeholders to address statutory audits with tax authorities and external auditors
• Identify tax exposures and evaluate tax action options for presentation to Senior Consultant
• Issue VAT certificates for all payments by Scancom and MOMO Ltd
• Provide input to indirect tax risk management policy and proposed strategy
• Ensure implementation of Group tax policies internally
• Manage day-to-day advisory support to other divisions and departments on indirect tax matters
• Perform sensitivity and trend analysis of all sales transactions
• Interact with tax consultants and tax officials from various telecommunications industry firms
