Senior Mechanic at African Underground Mining Services Ltd (AUMS)

Position Overview

African Underground Mining Services Ltd (AUMS) is seeking a highly capable, experienced, and proficient Senior Mechanic and Auto Electrician for a fixed-term position at the Sibika underground project at Newmont Ahafo Mine in Accra, Ghana.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for diagnostic fault finding on mechanical and electrical systems, carrying out breakdown repairs, and servicing underground heavy mining equipment as guided by the immediate supervisor and/or trainer.

Responsibilities

• Ensure maintenance and servicing of mobile equipment is carried out efficiently, safely, and on-site
• Carry out scheduled servicing of mobile equipment in a safe manner and follow company documentation
• Utilize skill and experience to create minimum downtime on machinery and maximize productivity
• Ensure accurate recording of maintenance data and specifications
• Read and interpret Service and Spare parts manuals
• Report all equipment faults to the Maintenance Supervisor/Foreman for workshop scheduling
• Ensure site and maintenance procedures are maintained
• Assist with training of new employees to increase skill levels on site
• Work with workshop personnel to plan work for the oncoming shift

Qualifications and Experience Required

• Mechanical Technician Part II or III, HND in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent qualification
• Previous experience carrying out auto electrical repairs on underground equipment
• Strong background working with underground mobile mining equipment, including CAT, Normet, Sandvik, and Volvo
• Minimum of 3 years' experience on underground machines
• High degree of skill in troubleshooting and fault finding on mining equipment
• Competent with auto electrics and hydraulic systems
