Programme Officer at IRC Ghana

Position Overview

IRC Ghana is seeking a Programme Officer to provide leadership in project development and implementation within the water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) sector. This full-time position is based in Accra, Ghana, with responsibilities spanning project coordination, field activities, and organizational development.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership in project development and implementation
• Manage and coordinate projects with partners
• Provide content expertise and leadership for water, sanitation and hygiene service delivery
• Oversee smooth implementation of short to medium-term projects in accordance with their respective planning, approaches and timelines
• Coordinate field activities, monitor project outcomes and track impact at district and sector level
• Support IRC Ghana business development for fundraising and new project acquisition
• Support research, studies, learning and communication initiatives
• Support IRC thematic reporting

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum bachelor's degree with 3 years of relevant professional experience (Master's degree is an added advantage)
• Good knowledge and understanding of main concepts and trends in the water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) sector
• Relevant experience in research (design, data analysis and report writing) and policy analysis
• Demonstrated experience in learning, knowledge management and networking
• Proven field work coordination experience
• Fluent in English and preferably one local language spoken in the Ahafo Region
• Good writing skills
• Understanding of project management (added advantage)
• Proven project management experience
• Willingness to work in a district and travel nationally and internationally
• Experience working in a district is an added advantage

Contract Terms

The candidate will initially be offered a one-year contract including a six-month probation period. The contract is renewable subject to good performance and availability of funds.
