Position Overview
The College Principal serves as the chief officer responsible for academics, administration, and discipline. The Principal is accountable to the Governing Council of the college and is responsible for ensuring that Council decisions are implemented.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all academic and administrative operations of the college
- Exercise authority over all staff and students subject to the Unified Statutes of Colleges of Education
- Assign staff in accordance with the provisions of the Unified Statutes of Colleges of Education
- Supervise and discipline staff and students
- Prepare annual estimates of income and expenditure for Council consideration
- Provide regular reports to Council, including reports from Council committees
- Address challenges related to the college's transition to tertiary status
Required Qualifications
- Minimum rank of Principal Tutor in a College of Education or equivalent (minimum Senior Lecturer from a recognized university)
- Postgraduate research degree, preferably terminal degree (Ph.D.)
- Professional teaching qualification or minimum Diploma in Education or related field
- Recognized master teacher and scholar in teaching and learning
- Strong personal character and high integrity
Required Experience
- Substantial administrative experience
- Comprehensive understanding of challenges facing colleges of education and tertiary education in Ghana
