The Centre for Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Services (CERSGIS), based at the University of Ghana, applies geospatial technologies to support sustainable development.
Position Overview
We are seeking an innovative and detail-oriented Mobile and Web Application Developer to design, develop and maintain applications that make geospatial data accessible, user-friendly and impactful for decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain responsive web and mobile applications
- Integrate GIS and remote sensing datasets into applications and dashboards
- Collaborate with project teams to define user requirements and translate them into technical solutions
- Ensure applications are secure, scalable and optimized for performance
- Support the deployment of applications on cloud and local servers
- Document code, workflows and provide user support and training
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field
- At least 3 years of professional experience in web and mobile app development
- Strong skills in front-end technologies (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, React, Angular or Vue)
- Strong skills in back-end frameworks (Node.js, Django or similar)
- Experience with mobile frameworks such as React Native, Flutter or Ionic
- Familiarity with databases (PostgreSQL/PostGIS, MySQL, MongoDB)
- Knowledge of API development and integration (REST, GraphQL)
- Experience deploying applications in production environments
Desirable Skills
- Experience with geospatial libraries and web mapping tools (Leaflet, Mapbox) or ArcGIS Online
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or Google Cloud)
