Mobile and Web Application Developer at Centre for Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Services (CERSGIS)

Position Overview

We are seeking an innovative and detail-oriented Mobile and Web Application Developer to design, develop and maintain applications that make geospatial data accessible, user-friendly and impactful for decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain responsive web and mobile applications
• Integrate GIS and remote sensing datasets into applications and dashboards
• Collaborate with project teams to define user requirements and translate them into technical solutions
• Ensure applications are secure, scalable and optimized for performance
• Support the deployment of applications on cloud and local servers
• Document code and workflows, and provide user support and training

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field
• At least 3 years of professional experience in web and mobile app development
• Strong skills in front-end development (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, React, Angular or Vue)
• Strong skills in back-end development (Node.js, Django or similar frameworks)
• Experience with mobile frameworks such as React Native, Flutter or Ionic
• Familiarity with databases (PostgreSQL/PostGIS, MySQL, MongoDB)
• Knowledge of API development and integration (REST, GraphQL)

Desirable Skills and Experience

• Experience with geospatial libraries and web mapping tools (Leaflet, Mapbox) or ArcGIS Online
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or Google Cloud)
• Experience in deploying applications in production environments
