About the Role
The Local Economic Development Specialist will carry out comprehensive socio-economic situation analyses of project target regions to serve as the foundation for designing integrated local economic development strategies for beneficiary communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation, and updates of LED strategy for the project in consultation with the Project Coordinator and relevant teams and stakeholders at national, regional, and district levels
- Provide support in reviewing existing local economic development policies, strategies, and priorities in target areas
- Identify and facilitate consultations with key local, regional, and national level stakeholders on LED-related issues in target areas
- Prepare an operational handbook to guide implementation of the LED sub-component
- Provide needs-based technical support to zonal and district teams on planning and implementation of LED interventions
- Operationalize and scale up LED intervention strategies in implementing regions and districts in a timely manner
- Review the progress of LED sub-component implementation in target regions and districts
- Prepare quarterly status reports capturing results and impact of LED interventions
- Conduct quarterly assessments of implementation gaps across target regions and develop quarterly improvement plans
- Contribute to documentation of experiences and lessons learned to identify sub-component-related successes
