Position Overview

The University of Ghana invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the position of Director, Institute of Applied Science and Technology.

Reporting Structure

Reports to: Pro Vice-Chancellor, Research, Innovation and Development

Institute Objectives

The Institute of Applied Science and Technology shall:

• Provide research infrastructure and services through project-based acquisitions of state-of-the-art equipment in specialized laboratories
• Facilitate strategic partnerships between the University of Ghana research faculty and industry
• Promote trans-disciplinary research to address the needs of industry and tackle key national issues
• Improve the visibility of scientific and innovative technologies developed at the University through participation in community, national, and international forums
• Provide industry-based and professional training programmes through technology transfer by partner faculty and departments/units
• Enhance academic research through project-based research fundraising and facilitate improvement of research facilities in partner departments

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to the Institute and maintain and promote the efficiency and good order of the Institute in accordance with University Act and Statutes, Council policies, Academic Board directives, and Institute Management Committee procedures
• Ensure that the approved programmes and functions of the Institute are duly carried out by Institute members
