About the University

Accra Technical University (ATU) is located in the central business district of Accra, Ghana's capital city. The University was converted from a Polytechnic to a Technical University in September 2016 by an Act of Parliament. Under the Technical Universities Act, 2016 (Act 922) as amended by Act 974, 2018, and Act 1016, 2020, ATU is mandated to provide higher education in engineering, science, and technology-based disciplines, technical and vocational education and training, and applied arts and related disciplines.

The University currently employs approximately 800 staff members, including faculty, senior administrative officers, and supporting staff, and serves a student population of about 29,000 full-time and part-time students across various academic and professional programmes.

Position Overview

The Governing Council of Accra Technical University invites applications from qualified and enterprising individuals to fill the vacancy of Vice-Chancellor. The Vice-Chancellor serves as the Executive Head of the University and is responsible, under the Governing Council, for both academic and administrative functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as chief disciplinary officer with authority over all employees and students of the University, subject to the Statutes and Conditions of Service
• Protect the integrity of the University's processes
• Promote world-class, high-quality Technical University education
• Oversee academic and administrative operations of the institution
