Senior Mechanic at African Underground Mining Services Ltd (AUMS)

Position Overview

African Underground Mining Services Ltd (AUMS) is seeking a highly capable, experienced, and proficient Senior Mechanic with auto electrical expertise. This is a fixed-term position based at the Sibika Underground Project at Newmont Ahafo Mine, offering a competitive work roster.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnostic fault finding on mechanical and electrical systems, carrying out breakdown repairs, and servicing underground heavy mining equipment under the guidance of the immediate supervisor and/or trainer.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure maintenance and servicing of mobile equipment is carried out efficiently, safely, and on-site
• Carry out scheduled servicing of mobile equipment in a safe manner following company documentation
• Utilize skill and experience to minimize downtime on machinery and maximize productivity
• Ensure accurate recording of maintenance data and specifications
• Read and interpret service and spare parts manuals
• Report all equipment faults to the Maintenance Supervisor/Foreman and schedule work into the workshop
• Maintain site and maintenance procedures in accordance with company standards
• Assist with training of new employees to increase skill levels on site
• Coordinate with workshop personnel to plan work for the oncoming shift

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Mechanical Technician Part II or III, or HND in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
• Previous experience carrying out auto electrical repairs on underground equipment
• Strong background working with underground mobile mining equipment, including CAT, Normet, Sandvik, and Volvo
• Minimum of 3 years' experience on underground machines
• High degree of skill in troubleshooting and fault finding on mining equipment
• Competency with auto electrics and hydraulic circuits
