School Nurse at Lincoln Community School

About the Position

Lincoln Community School is seeking a dedicated School Nurse to support student learning and well-being. The primary role is to implement strategies that promote the health and safety of students and staff through strong critical thinking, decision-making, communication, and child advocacy skills.

Performance Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care and manage all medical emergencies for students and staff
• Administer daily and as-needed medications as prescribed by physicians
• Promote healthy habits among students through individual and group health education in classrooms and school assemblies
• Screen medical records for identification, assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of students' health concerns that may impact education
• Update and review students' medical records quarterly regarding immunizations, food allergies, and other health problems
• Encourage parental responsibility regarding children's health concerns and support students and families in achieving optimal quality of life
• Assess mental health needs of students, provide interventions, and refer to appropriate school staff or community agencies
• Maintain a healthy and safe school environment through identification of health and safety concerns
• Control infection among students through community education on healthy practices, early identification, and keeping sick children at home
• Refer students, staff, and families to appropriate community health agencies and coordinate appointments when needed
• Educate staff on health issues and assist in CPR and First Aid training during workshops
