About the Institution

The University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC) is a specialised public higher educational institution dedicated to the creative and media arts. Established in 2020 by an Act of Parliament (Act 1059), UniMAC comprises three constituent institutes: the Institute of Journalism, Institute of Languages, and Institute of Film and Television.

Position Overview

Position: Rector, Institute of Film and Television (IFT)

Location: Accra, Ghana

Employment Type: Full-Time

Reporting To: Vice-Chancellor, UniMAC

Start Date: 1st October 2024

Role Description

The Rector shall serve as the administrative and academic head of the Institute of Film and Television, providing strategic leadership and ensuring the Institute's continued growth and excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to the Institute of Film and Television and maintain its efficiency and good order in accordance with institutional policies, procedures, and governance structures established by the Act, Statutes, University Council, Academic Board, Executive Management Board, and Institute Board
• Exercise general authority over students within the Institute
• Exercise general administrative supervision over Institute staff
• Coordinate and implement academic and professional programmes for the Institute
• Advise the Institute Board and University Council (through the Vice-Chancellor) on all matters relating to Institute management
• Oversee the preparation of annual estimates of income and expenditure
• Manage the budget and resources of the Institute
