Position: Rector, Institute of Film and Television (IFT) Reporting to: Vice-Chancellor, UniMAC Job Summary

• The Rector shall be the administrative and academic head of the institute of film and television

S/he shall:

• Be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for providing leadership to the institute of film and television and for maintaining and promoting the efficiency and good order of the institute in accordance with policies and procedures prescribed by the Act, the statutes or as may be determined from time to time by the University Council, the academic board, the Executive Management board and the institute board

• Exercise general administrative supervision over staff in the institute of film and television

• Coordinate and implement programmes for the institute of film and television advice the institute board and utimately the university council through the Vice-Chancellor on all issues relating to the management of the institute, oversee the preparation of annual estimates of income and expenditure and management of the budget and resources of the institute of film and television

• Ensure implementation of decisions of the University council

• Be responsible in accordance with the statutes, and with decisions of the university council, the Executive management board and the academic board, for organizing and conducting the academic, financial and administrative business of the institute of film and television

• Advise the University council and the University management board on all matters affecting policy, finance, governance and administration of the institute of film and television

Qualification Required & Experience

• Must be a PhD holder in an appropriate field. An earned degree in film and television production or any other discipline in the media arts from a recognized university will be an added advantage

• Must have at least 10 years managerial experience at a senior level in higher education

• Must have a track record of teaching, research and administration at a tertiary level

• Candidates who have professional experience in the field of film and television, juried or exhibitions of literary, audio and visual works in recognised and reputable outlets will be an added
