About the Position

The Embassy of Switzerland is seeking a qualified Programme and Trade Officer to join its Economic Section in Accra, Ghana. This is a full-time international role focused on managing Switzerland's economic development cooperation portfolio and supporting Swiss private sector interests in Ghana.

About the Economic Section

The Economic Section has two primary responsibilities:

• Managing Switzerland's economic development cooperation portfolio with Ghana
• Monitoring economic matters and supporting the Swiss private sector active in Ghana

Areas of Specialization

Switzerland's economic development cooperation with Ghana focuses on:

• Economic and financial policy, including Public Finance Management and tax reforms
• Urban infrastructure and utilities, with emphasis on renewable energy
• Private sector development, including entrepreneurship, access to finance, business development, and climate initiatives
• Trade promotion with a strong focus on sustainable value chains, including recycling industries

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor selected programs within Switzerland's cooperation portfolio and identify new activities pertaining to private sector development, trade promotion, and value chain development
• Provide in-depth and critical analysis at macro-economic and sectoral levels as requested
• Contribute to the Embassy's annual economic report and written briefs for economic development policy dialogue, particularly within relevant sector working groups
• Closely follow the interests and activities of Swiss businesses and the Swiss business community in Ghana in coordination with Embassy management
• Assist with Swiss business lunches and related events as requested
• Support the preparation and accommodation of economic delegations as needed
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with government officials, private sector representatives, development partners, and project implementing agencies
